No other year I was so much challenged like this fall when transitioning from summer to fall. It's a time of changes and we need to accept them. This seasonal shift was daunting since the shorter days, fading sunlight and increased workload made me feel overwhelmed.

But through this struggle, I discovered something more profound: the power of acceptance.

A short definition of acceptance

Acceptance doesn't mean giving up or resigning the circumstances, it means embracing what we cannot control and find ourselves at peace with it. It's a tremendous effort to do that at first, but the outcome is worth it. Mastering this allowed me to transform my perspective, be more relaxed and made my inner-self fulfilled.

In my case, I was feeling like something is lost in the wind when summer gives away to cooler, longer nights, I really enjoyed the sunrises when I was running in the forest. Now if I wake up at 7:00 it's quite late to go for a workout since I have to accommodate my work as well. We all know how summer flies, so I tried to heal myself with good summertime memories. It worked until I realized it's not ok to live in the past...βŒ›

The turning point: embracing what I cannot control

One day, I realized something: I just cannot change everything in this world. The only thing what you can do is changing how you react to it! It's a battle you cannot win. You cannot stop the seasons from changing, magically reduce your workload, avoid the traffic jams and so on. instead you can see it in different colors, filter just the positives from it and it'll make a big difference.

Just like we can prepare for bad weather with an umbrella or a coat, we can prepare ourselves mentally for any challenge. The power is within us πŸ˜‰

Receiving the gift of acceptance

When I embraced the changes as a natural part of life, something amazing happened. I began to see the beauty in fall, the colors of the leaves, the chillness of the rain and the less agitation overcast weather brings. I also approached my workload differently, instead of being overwhelmed I broke the tasks into smaller bits which were easier to chew. I also created TODO lists in order to stay focused; these I explicitly wrote down on paper in order to disconnect from the digital world✍️.

Acceptance allowed me to shift my mindset from resistance to gratitude. I realized that every season, every challenge and every change brings its own unique gifts. Not material gifts, but lessons to be learned. By accepting what I couldn't control, I freed myself from the weight of frustration and found a sense of inner peace.

Bad weather analogy

Think of it like preparing for a storm. We know that after good weather a storm will come and vice versa. You just cannot do anything to prevent it, except for grabbing an umbrella. The wind cannot be controlled, but you can wear a warm coat. Similarly, you cannot prevent life's challenges, but you can prepare yourself mentally and emotionally to face them with grace.

And moreover, in life it's not about controlling everything, the world will never look exactly like we want! Think about all these despots who tried to conquer and rule the whole world, would it be a good world if it was by their vision? πŸ€”

Conclusion: a happier more resilient you

The power of accepting life's changes lies in its ability to free us from resistance and open us to growth. By embracing the shift from summer to fall I found a new appreciation for the season and a renewed sense of peace.

Remember, you don't have to control everything to be happy. Sometimes, the greatest gift is to give yourself the freedom to let go of past, which is usually dragging you down. With each step you take, you'll move closer to a happier, more resilient inner-self πŸ€—.
